Vibes player Walt Dickerson recorded four albums for the Prestige subsidiary New Jazz in 1961 and 62. ‘This is Walt Dickerson’ includes the great driving jazz dancer ‘The Cry’. The title track ‘Sense of Direction’ has a cool jazz groove.’ Relativity’ and ‘Steppin out’ ft some great walking bass lines from Ahmed Abdul-Malik. ‘To My Queen’ features a young Andrew Hill.
