Great album from Alabama native Anderson East, ‘Deliah’ is a simmering brew of southern styled throwback R&B and country-tinged soul that compliments East’s gravely blue eyed tones. The majority of the tracks are self-penned except for the George Jackson/Rick Hall number ‘Find ‘Em, Fool ‘Em, Forget ‘Em”. “Quit You” has echoes of Tyrone Davis while the early southern of ‘Only You’ and the superb stomper “Satisfy Me” show a deep appreciation of vintage Nashville soul. “Devil In Me” and “What A Woman Wants To hear” are the most country of the tracks but work so well in the context of the album, “Quit You” is an irresistible dancer while “Lonely” is a strong slow burn ballad. Great album.
