The fourth volume in this great series sees compiler Al Kent rooting back through the crates to dig out more obscurities that fall under the disco banner but are a world away from glitterballs, high heels and white stallions rising through a nightclub! Drawing on sounds that have become sought after by collectors and DJs alike, Disco Love 4 reaches across styles and pulls out the likes of Symbol 8’s big, clubby funk ‘Call Me’ (first heard by many at Deep Funk) the sassy, swayer ‘Equal Love Opportunity’ by Clear, Barbara Jean English’s super soulful Miami gem ‘If It Feels This Good’ which Emanuel Laskey’s classic ‘I’d rather Leave On My Feet’ was a spin on the 80s Northern Soul scene. Old (M) Pressions is a recent tune that’s started to gain attention, while Mary Munday and Marva Hicks both bring things back to a more traditional disco sound. Lots to discover and revisit here.
