Drummer Tino Contreras hails from Mexico. This sixteen track collection features some of Central America’s finest Jazz. The themes are Latin with modal and Middle Eastern influences, check ‘Jazz En El Cairo’. ‘Orfeo En Los Tambores’ and ‘La Malaguena’ set the standard. ‘Santo’ owes more than a nod to ‘Take Five’. Try also the explosive version of ‘What Is This Thing Called Love’.
‘Ravi Shankar’ is a tribute lasting 11 minutes and takes the listener on a broad musical journey. Another gem from Jazzman.
