Saxophonist Victor Assis Brasil recorded these two albums in 1970. Thanks to Far Out, they are now available once again. ‘Ginger Bread Boy’ is fast and funky, whereas the rapid ‘Quarenta Graus A Sombre’ is more edgy with Spiritual Jazz overtones. The ten minute ‘Children’ is a fine Jazz piece that would grace any contemporary album. ‘Marilla’ and ‘Ao Amigo Quarentin’ slow the tempo and the mood. The Jobim tracks are given jazzier workouts than normal as ‘Wave’ and ‘So Tinha De Ser Com Voce’ indicate. ‘Dindi’ is especially beautiful.
