Third instalment in this series, this 25 track collection charts the output of the Baltimore imprint from a busy spell between 1966-67. Rita Dorsey is prominent with the beat ballad ‘wait Til Then’ a highlight, Kitty Lane’s JB inspired funker ‘It’s Love I Need’ is also strong while the frantic ‘Searching’ is one from th vaults by an artist unknown. Gene & Eddie’s cavernous ‘I Tell You’ is proto northern, another mystery artist does a wonderfully primitive cover of Winfield Parker’s ‘Sweet Little Girl’ (check his version too – superb), Sir Joe’s (Joe Quarterman) immense ‘Nobody Beats My Love’ is a four-figure northern soul jewel while The Caressor’s ‘I Can’t Stay Away’ is another massively sought after tune on the rare soul scene – the flip and the last track here by them, ‘Who Can It be’ – is a group harmony gem too.
