Nick Pride and band return with a new set of bossy, blue-eyed jazzy, bluesy funky soul: yes…a real melting pot of sound that adds up to a tough, tight helping of modern rhythm and blues. Beth Macari’s confident vocals shine on the pacey ‘Sweetness & Light’ (has shades of ‘The Snake’) the bustling ‘Put Your Arms Around Me’ and the ‘Tighten Up’ groove of ‘Gotta Leave The Lady Alone’. ‘Good Day’ is a superb slice of summery Crossover that nods to ‘Feel Like Making Love’, ‘What The Heart Wants’ is the highlight slowie – a deep slab of bluesoul – ‘Baby Can We Start Again’ is a superb, brightly infectious while ‘Nothing But The Good Times’ is a real joyous, uplifting celebration of what the band stand for. Really good.
