Groove With A Feeling – Sounds Of Memphis Boogie, Soul And Funk 1975-1985

19 track exploration looking at a selection of sounds coming out of Memphis after the closure of the Stax studios. Many of the tracks here are being heard for the first time and the emphasis is on that disco/boogie fusion from (mainly) lesser know acts. ‘You Can Bet I Can Get You Yet’ by Lee Moore has a private disco feel, ‘Cold Blooded Sally’ by Fran Farley is a chugging funker, The Jacksonians try with a good version of the Spinners’ ‘I’ll Be Around’, Donald O’Connor’s ‘We Need Love’ is a good minor key funky soul effort while Freedom Express’ ‘Groove With A Feeling’ skips along. Decent comp.
