Paul Janeway’s superb powerful vocals transport you back to the heyday of Southern Soul. ‘Dont Mean a Thing’ is a rousing brassy beat ballad with a great guitar riff. ‘Call Me’ and’Half The City’ have a more straight foward Soul mid tempo soul approach and are also highlights. ‘Like a mighty River’ is another powerful cut,and the ballads ‘I’m Torn Up’, ‘That Glow’ , ‘Dixie Rothko’ and ‘It’s Midnight’ could have been recorded by Otis in the mid 60’s. Excellent Powerful Soul album with a capital S.
