Multi-talented Rahsaan Patterson returns after 8 years with his much anticipated album ‘Heroes And Gods’ and the timeless, organic/Neo soul vibe is turned up to the max on an album that grows with each play but there’s also a diversity of styles that makes the set even more engaging. Gems include the boogie swagger of ‘Catch Me When I Fall’, the infectious summery soul of ‘Don’t You Know That’, the stepper ‘Break It Down’ with it’s 80s feel and washy synths and the soaring ‘Wonderful Star’ that sees Rahsaan expressing his inner Donnie! The slower ‘Oxford Blues’ is a killer beat ballad with a nod to the 80s while ‘Rock And Roll’ is a faster dancer adds good contrast. Really strong set.
