Hurst Selection vol 2 is a brilliant comp of Contemporary Soul and Jazz. Boukou Groove ‘I’ll Take You There’ is a nice Isleys influenced upper mid tempo soul groove. Maz ‘Everything I Need’ is a good jazzy soul chillout track. Michion Young has a great soul voice and her gospel soul cut ‘I’m Waiting on You’ is delightful. Ananda Project ft Alex Lattimore ‘Two Hearts’ is a really soulful house dancer. Japanese jazz Room 56 ‘Hit the Devil’ and Jazz Collective ‘Renovation’ are brilliant dancefloor fillers. And to top it all Gerardo Frisina mixes Gregory Porter’s ‘1960 What’ to give us the definitive version of this classic.Best new comp of the year.
