Tyrone Davis possesses one of the most distinctive Soul voices. ‘I Just Can’t Keep On Going’ dates from 1980 and is amongst his best albums. ‘Wanna Make It Good’ is a slice of danceable Disco-fied Soul, whilst the up-tempo ‘We Don’t Need No Music’ is grittier. Highlights include the Modern Soul gem, ‘Overdue’. ‘I Just Can’t Keep On Going’ is a mid-tempo piece with a fine arrangement. The 2 Step ‘Never Stopped Loving You’ is a sumptuous tune with yet another great Soul arrangement once again down to Leo Graham. The dead slow ballad ‘Comin Back Baby’ is pure Soul heaven; Davis excels on such tunes. ‘I Just Can’t Keep On Going’ is a truly superb Soul album with Tyrone in top form. Essential.
