This Chic-produced 1981 release was originally canned at the time and this issue is the first issue ever of Johnny Mathis’ mythical ‘I Love My Lady’ album. Mathis’ voice and expertise combined with Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards’ songwriting combine to create a powerful, accomplished set that gathers in disco, soul and percussive dance numbers. The sublime stepper ‘I Want To Fall In Love’ is an atmospheric gem, the driving ‘It’s Alright To Love Me’ is a catchy disco dancer while Rodgers’ irresistible guitar propels the groove on ‘Something To Sing About’. The percussion heavy Latin feel of ‘I Love My Lady’ is a swaggering dancefloor killer, head nodding grove of ‘Judy’ is a highlight while ‘Love And Be Loved’ concludes this eight track gem in uptempo, funky disco fashion. Essential.
