The Sorcerers return with another intriguing album of Ethiopian inspired Jazz on the Leeds-based ATA Records. ‘I Too Am A Stranger’ contains nine tracks of mystical grooves featuring bassist Neil Innes, Richard Ormrod on Flute, Saxes, Bass Clarinet, Vibes and Keyboards and Drummer/Percussionist Joost Hendrickx. ‘He Who Kills With One Leap’, ‘Moth’, ‘Yasuke In Roppongi’, ‘Bebaynetu’, ‘Warrior Code’, ‘Kid Mahout’, ‘The Road Forward’, ‘Oromo Moon’ and ‘She Who Perceives The Sounds Of The World’ blend seamlessly in conjuring images of East Africa in a way that Mulatu himself would be proud, but equally as the titles imply this could easily be a soundtrack to a TV program or spoof action movie, but excellent music throughout.
