‘I Wanna Play For You’ was originally released as a double vinyl in 1979 part studio, part live. It sees bassist Stanley Clarke on the cusp of his mid-70’s more Rock orientated material and the funkier and more soulful recordings of the early 80’s. Of the latter check the very funky ‘I Wanna Play For You’ and the slightly Disco influenced ‘Just A Feeling’. There is also a tribute track ‘Blues For Mingus’ and the relaxed and catchy ‘Together Again’ features Freddie Hubbard on flugelhorn. The live tracks include his classic ‘School Days’, the mellow ‘Quiet Afternoon’ and the Funk of ‘Hot Fun’.
