This excellent Europena Jazz collection delves into the musical vaults of producer Antoliano Toldes and covers the period 1967 to 1972. 13 tracks includes the wicked ‘Opaco’ by Quniteto Montelirio with its driving bassline and similarly flavoured ‘Modulo Jazz’ from Toldos Y Su Grupo. Conjunto Estif contribute the 60’s sounding swinger ‘Tom Jazz’ and the modal ‘Trompeta Loca – hints of Freddie Hubbard. Conjunto Segali take a smoother route with ‘Jazz Progresivo’. Interesting, intriguing and inventive set of fine Jazz grooves.
