Percussionist and singer and Prince collaborator Shelia E steps out and makes her first album in a decade. It features many great musicians and singers including Eddie M on sax and Bobby G on Guitar, with Sy Smith on BG vocals. ‘Lovely Day’ is a good pop soul groover, ‘Nasty Things’ is a funky groove, ‘Leader of the Band’ features Prince and ‘Girl Like me’ features Ledisi, but the highlight is probably ‘Old Skool’ which has a slinky Cab Calloway/Dr Buzzard influence.
