Minneapolis’ Secret Stash imprint strike again with Sonny Knight’s latest album coming some half a century after his first 45 release, cut just a few blocks from where this new set was recorded. Eleven tracks ranging from uptempo big city funky soul like “Jucy Lucy”, ‘Through With You’ and the pumping ‘Hey Girl’ to the deep title track ‘I’m Still Here’ and the pleading soul of ‘When’s You’re Gone’ through to the brilliant, afro-tinged ‘Sugarman’ there’s a good range of styles across a solid, energetic set. Lots to play out or enjoy at home.
