24 tracks of library soundtrack tunes that would have been made for all manner of cop shows, detective thrillers and spy sagas back in 1969. At times fully orchestrated as in Syd Dale’s “Danger Musicians At Work”, at others beat heavy ala Clive Hicks’ “Transit” and at others swinging and jazzy as in Norrie Paramor’s “Theme From New Scotland Yard”, this collection draws on obscure but always funky session music made for TV. Dave Richmond’s flute led “Got To Get Away” features a skittering beat and wailing organ, David Lindup’s “Men of Action” is a drama filled big production and Johnny Hawksworth’s energetic brassy “Workshop” is a good ender to a really intriguing and engaging comp. So many highlights, not enough room! Well recommended.
