First time reissued on vinyl, this in demand 1981 album was recorded for Roy Ayers’ Uno Melodic imprint and features six tracks, half penned by Ayers and half by Almario. Almario is a Colombian composer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist, who also plays soprano and tenor saxophones, clarinet and flute. The beautiful, easy gliding fusion of ‘Interlude’ opens things up and contrasts with the funkier Afro-Cuban ‘Seventh Avenue’. The slick, late night vibes of ‘I’m The One Who Loves You’ finds Almario in ballad mood, Ayers brings the boogie back on the thumping disco-jazz ‘Sho You Right’, while ‘Sir John’ is a fast paced, sax lead jazzer. ‘Aquarian Mood’ starts slowly but breaks into a jaunty groove once Oscar Brashear’s trumpet sketch gives way to Almario’s snaking sax. Good album that sees a much needed vinyl reissue.
