Mint Condition group member Stokley Williams strikes out on a solo effort with guest input from Robert Glasper and Estelle as well as selected production duties courtesy of multi-platinum duo Carvin Haggins & Ivan Barias on his debut ‘Introducing Stokley’. At 15 tracks the offering is generous and fans of edgier soulful R&B will find much to enjoy here. The aptly titled ‘Organic’ has a summery feel, ‘Cross The Line’ is an uptempo dancer that has a London scene broken beat feel to it in places – almost Omar-like, while ‘Art-In Motion’ has some lovely jazz touches thanks to Glasper. The swaggering ‘Hold My Breath’ is a club groover while ‘U & I’ featuring Estelle is a catchy mid tempo head nodder. The expansive ‘We/Me’ again has a great new soul feel to it while the lyrics are punchy and socio-conscious, ‘Be With U’ is R&B with old school sensibilities while ‘Level’ is also a standout mid-tempo effort.
