Former Funk Brothers member Jack Ashford set up his ‘Just Productions’ company after the demise of Pied Piper and soul fans will be familiar with many of the works that emerged in the period between 68-75. ‘I’m Gone’ from Eddie Parker is a Northern Soul classic, as are the fabulous ‘Sweet Baby’ from Al Gardner, the sweet harmony laced dancer ‘Tell Me You’re Mine’ from the Four Sonics Plus One, and the thumping 70’s ‘Body Chains’ again from Eddie Parker. Sandra Richardson and Softouch provide more 70s gems in the form of ‘If You Stay Here With Me’ and ‘After All You Give’ respectively while slower gems from Ray Gant/Arabian Knights ‘Don’t Leave Me Baby’ and The Magnificents ‘Don’t Take Your Love’ are also highlights on a strong collection.
