Really good Jazz Funk and Fusion album from the 8-piece British band, King Bee. The playing is of the highest standard and the 11 original compositions really groove along. ‘Return of the Dave’ has a wicked b line from Dan Brady and Dave Wilde plays a nice flute solo. Chris Jelly’s vibes are prominent on the moodier ‘Stinger’ and the upbeat ‘Skittish’. The horn section thrives on ‘Hot Wax’ which shows a slight Crusaders influence, ‘Six Foot Sucker’ is more full on, and the vocal cut ‘Heads Up’ is funkier. This is quality music that could have been recorded 30 years ago by a band like Paz, Geordie Jazz Funk !
