This rare 1978 private press album produced as a ‘back room’ venture by husband and wife team Carrie and Bill Cleveland was previously only the preserve of the fortunate but now it’s been issued for all in expanded form to create a full discography on this otherwise largely unknown West Coast soulstress. The delightfully indie disco number ‘I Need Love’ is probably more disco than the funkier ‘Take Me To The Disco’, the sweet ballad ‘Take A Moment’ probably sounded vintage even in ’78 while the blend of organic and electronics in the dark end dancer ‘Love Will Set You Free’ builds a unique atmosphere. The raw beat ballad ‘I’ve Got A feeling’ is a crumbling gem that teeters on disintegration while the swirling organ on ‘Looking Up’ creates a bittersweet vibe.
