Loving On The Flip Side collects the overlooked ballads from the flip sides of the funk 45s in the Now-Again and Truth and Soul vaults and is a great 21-track offering that brings to light the other side of classic funk rarities. The Darling Dears’ crashing ‘I Don’t Think I’ll Ever Love Another’ has been in demand for years, Eddie Finley & The Cincinnati Show Band – ‘Treat Me Right Or Leave Me Alone’is an impassioned soul-screamer while The Black Conspirator’s heartfelt ‘Love’ is as raw and true as they come. Ed Nelson’s groove paced ‘I’ll Give You A Ring (When I Come If I Come) ‘ lifts the tempo while the cavernous ‘Who Do You Think You’re Fooling’ is a crushing sweet with a beat gem. Eunice Collins’ lazy, drifiting ‘At The Hotel’ is another massively in demand cut while the emphatic ‘Together’ by Disciples Of Soul is a killer cover-version that has a perfect crossover vibe. Great stuff.
