This reissue of Shakatak’s 1988 set ‘Manic And Cool’ had been much sought after on CD. It mixes their Brit Jazz Funk roots, early Smooth Jazz and a little bit of 80’s Soul. Jill Saward’s vocals are featured heavily and tracks such as ‘Slow Dancing’, the duet ‘Stop’ and ‘Time Of My Life’ are amongst her strongest performances. Also check the hit ‘Mr Manic And Sister Cool’. There are several instrumentals with ‘Walk That Walk’ hitting a groove. The production of ‘Manic And Cool’ is of its time.
