From 1984, ‘Marathon’ was Rodney Franklin’s sixth release on Columbia. The album has that mid eighties feel but grooves like ‘Stay On In The groove’ and ‘Lumiere’ are on point. ‘Let’s Talk’ is a fine Soul tinged Jazz Funk tune of its time. ‘Marathon’ is produced by Stanley Clarke and features a series of great bass players like Louis Johnson, Stanley and Abraham Laboriel.
