Dwight Trible is one of the greatest living Jazz vocalists, his voice is the link from the greats like Leon Thomas, Andy Bey and the spiritual jazz of the 60’s/70’s to the current jazz scene. ‘Mothership’ was recorded at Sunset Sound studios in L.A. and is a collection of 12 Spiritual Jazz Gems that feature musicians including Kamasi Washington, Mark De Clive Lowe, Derf Reklaw, Carlos Nino and others. ‘Mothership’ is a storming 7 min Spiritual workout ft Washington on Sax.‘It’s all about love’ is a lovely keyboard backed shuffling mid tempo cut allowing Trible’s great voice to express itself. ‘Mother’ and ‘Song for my mother’ are down tempo tributes that most of us can relate to. ‘Desert Fairy Princess’ is a great new vocal version of Adele Sebastian’s Nimbus Spiritual Jazz epic featuring evocative Viola from Miguel Atwood-Ferguson. Trible’s vocals are excellent throughout this totally absorbing album.
