British tenor man Leo Richardson returns with fine second album. Like his debut, it veers towards a modern take on Hard Bop with a modal twist thrown in for good measure and more than a nod towards early Impulse! Coltrane. ‘The Demise’ highlights these influences, whilst ‘Effin & Jeffin’ has a deeper feel. There is an edgy, left-field feel to ‘Move’. Richardson stretches out on several nice mellow pieces like ‘E.F.G’ and ‘Peace’. The tempo is upped on the aptly titled ‘Second Wind’.
