‘Movin’ On’ is the debut album from British combo Détente and comprises 11 cover versions of classic songs done in a mix of vocal and instrumental soul jazz styles. The line-up includes some stellar names who are renowned as in-demand session musicians such as guitarist Jim Mullen, drummer Phil Ayers, Phil Mumford on bass, Noel Langley on trumpet as well as vocals from Tracy Graham and Simon Foster. The production and playing is super slick as you’d expect from top session players – ‘Inner City Blues’, ‘I Need Your Lovin’, ‘Love The One You’re With’, ‘Put It Where You Want It’ and ‘Ode To Billie Jo’ are the standout cuts. Impeccable, sophisticated soul jazz for a more mature audience here.
Very independent album that is currently available from very few outlets.
