Trombone Shorty hails from New Orleans and that city’s influence permeates this set in both content snd style. Check the covers of the Meters’ ‘It Ain’t No Use’ and the popular Allen Toussaint penned ‘Hey Comes The Girls’. The riff laden ‘Fanfare’ has a James Brown vibe. Many of the tracks have a Blues feel, but overall, ‘Parking Lot Symphony’ is a fine set of Funk orientated jazzy tunes.
