Kem makes his 5th album ‘Promise to love’ and maintains the high standard that he set on the previous releases. Kem’s gentle and sometimes fragile voice is best suited to laid back grooves and ballads, which this album concentrates on. The lilting grooves ‘Do What you gotta do’, ‘Moments’ and ‘Nobody’ are highlights. The subtly semi funky horn backed ‘Say Something Real’ and mid tempo stepper ‘It’s You’and mid tempo title track are also strong. The duet with Ronald Isley ‘ My Favourite Thing’ has a more Soul/R&B feel. Good chill out album.
