Second volume in this series sees Dave Lee aka Joey Negro tackling some of the biggest soul dance and disco tracks of all time as well as a few less obvious surprises. With his extensive knowledge of how to foreground a groove, a beat or a b-line the tracks here have been given a worthy reworking without being excessively different from the originals. The highlights are many and the quality is high. ‘I Love Music’ from the Ojays, Gwen McCrae ‘Keep The Fire Burning’, Kleeer ‘Open Your Mind’, Gladys Knight ‘Taste Of Bitter Love’, Willie Hutch ‘brother’s Gonna Work It Out’ and Norman Connor’s ‘Stella’ among others are nailed on disco classics given a new twist. Proper party grooves all the way.
