28 track collection bringing together the output of this busy Baltimore imprint between 63 and 64, this set contains released material as well as a slew of unreleased and alternate takes. Jessie Crawford’s cavernous Rhythm and Soul effort “Please Don’t Go” is great, Jeanie Dee’s ‘Every Day I Have The Blues’ was unheard til now in this format and it’s a big, bolshy shouter of the highest order while Celestine’s plaintive ‘I Want To Be Sure’ is a perfect example of low budget, stripped back early soul. The superb blues beater ‘Something’s Got A Hold On Me’ is not only previously unreleased but also shrouded in mystery as the artist is unknown. The thumping, funky edged ‘Trash Can’ owes a debt to early James Brown but like the previous track it’s makers are a mystery, Brenda Jones’ confident, brassy ‘Can’t You see’ is a highlight as is the big voiced Tiny Tim doing the atmospheric ‘Saving All My Loving’.
