Jazzman’s excellent Spiritual Jazz series reaches volume 19 focusing on West Coast Usa Jazz from 1950’s to 1980’s, and possibly the most accessible volume to date, split into two sections.
Part 2 features 10 Spiritual Jazz tracks from the 70’s and 80’s. Pharoah Sanders ‘Living Space’ , Billy Higgins version of Clifford Jordan’s amazing tribute ‘John Coltrane’, Buddy Collette ‘Safari West’ , P.E.Hewitt Jazz Ensemble ‘Sad Sunday’, Rickey Kelly ‘Danakil Warrior’ are amongst the highlights.
Overall this is quality laid back Spiritual and Modal Jazz , very relaxing and at times inspirational music.
