The first of two albums the Temptations made in 1983, ‘Surface Thrills’ demonstrates a harder edged 80s sound that still retains the Temps’ harmonies.
The better moments come on the ballads: ‘Love On My Mind’ and the slow burn ‘What A Way To Put It’ being the standouts while good dancers come in the form of ‘Bring Your Body Here’ – a great, bubbling club-boogie number, ‘One Woman Man’ and ‘The Seeker’.
