Welsh harpist Amanda Whiting makes her debut on the First Word label with what may well be her strongest album to date. She is joined by a strong cast of musicians including Aiden Thorne on Bass, Jon Reynolds on drums, Mark O’Connor on percussion, Chip Wickham on flute and Peach vocals on two tracks. They all play beautifully throughout this lovely relaxing album. ‘Facing The Sun’ and ‘Nomad’ are very relaxing songs with a slight grove, whilst ‘Liminal’ has a much more urgent groove that really gets you going. Peach adds her wistful vocals to the groove oriented ‘Intertwined’ and the laid back ‘Rite Of Passage’ giving a different dimension. Wickham’s flute interchanges with Amanda’s harp on ‘Waiting To Go’; another highlight. Strong album, if you dig Brandee Younger check out this.
