Otis Clay recorded the original version of the George Jackson and Johnny Ray Henderson song ‘The Only Way Is Up’ in 1980 for the Chicago  Echo label.Although it is a great track, It went under the radar at the time, but has become a Modern Soul classic in more recent years and original copies now sell for around £400.  The record was covered by Yazz in 1988 who had a major hit with her house pop version, but the original is in a different league great vocals over a driving soulful beat. ‘Messing With My Mind’ is a version of the often recorded Jackson/Miller southern soul dancer.
