24 tracks of ‘blue label Stax’, all of which have so far never been released on CD, ‘The Other Side Of The Trax’ showcases every act that recorded for the imprint between 64 and 68. Johnnie Taylor’s ‘Changes’ is a northern soul classic, Eddie Purrell’s ‘My Pride Won’t Let Me’ is a good deep effort, Johnny Day’s ‘I Need Somebody’ is a good dancer while ‘You’ll Never Know How Much I Love You’ from Oscar Mack also has a strong club appeal. Barbara & The Browns ‘Please Be Honest With Me’ sounds like the blueprint for a lot of Sharon Jones’ deeper efforts while ‘Here Am I’ from Linda Lyndell is also another highlight.
