Bobby Martin and Teddy Randazzo Produced 1973 set recorded partly at Philly Sigma Sound Studios for Columbia, The Manhattans were experienced songwriters and the Edward Bivins ballad, ‘There’s No Me Without You’ features that winning format of up-front lead vocals, polished harmonies and spoken interludes which is continued in the faultless ‘We Made It’ and ‘Wish That You Were Mine’. ‘Soul Train’ breaks the mould with its urgent, pacey called to action groove while ‘It’s So Hard Loving You’ has a popping vibe again drenched in those glorious harmonies while ‘Falling Apart At The Seams’ is a wonderfully summery tune that has a bittersweet feel. This expanded version includes two bonus 7” single versions. (JS)
