Obscure group Satisfaction Unlimited released this solitary album in 1972 and was the final album release on Holland-Dozier-Holland’s Hot Wax Records imprint. Formed in 1969, Hot Wax ran into financial difficulties in 1973 and the team concentrated their efforts on the Invictus imprint. The roots of the band predate the Holland-Dozier-Holland project and they recorded a grip of 45s as The Satisfactions on the Smash and Lionel labels. “Bright City Lights” has a light bossa feel, with summery crossover vibes, the finger clicking ‘I Now It’s Love’ is a delight while the funkier ‘Spread Your Love Around’ has a more menacing feel. The soaring organ backed ‘Time For Us’ is a sumptuous soul ballad, the catchy ‘Why’ is a bubbling dancer while the funkier dancer ‘Seeing Your Through The Eyes Of A Blindman’ has an off key chorus that gives it a garage soul feel. The loping, funky mid tempo ‘Don’t Call Me, I’ll Call You’ again has a peculiar key that gives a raw vibe while the thumping ‘Somebody Else’s Woman’ is a highlight. The album ends on the uptempo, organ fuelled ‘Come On Back’.
