Lee Moses’ only album ‘Time And Place’ was cut for Maple Records in 1971 and includes the huge Herman Hitson written and Johnny Brantley produced funk break ‘Got That Will’. The title track ‘Time And Place’ tells a familiar tale of infidelity set atop a tough funky backing with Lee’s rasping vocals barking out the lyrics. The pleading ‘What You Don’t Want Me To Be’ is a great slice of screaming deep with a beat, his take on ‘California Dreaming’ is inventive while the stunning ballad ‘Free At Last’ is just brilliant: anguished and bittersweet but with a positive message. Really good early 70s soul album that commands serious £££ in its hard to find original form.
