Clint’s son, acoustic bass player Kyle Eastwood continues his run of quality albums with ‘Timepieces’. His quintet excel on string of top draw Hard Bop and Post-Bop grooves. The opener ‘Caipirinha’ sets the tone and is sustained by tracks like the Blue Note inspired ‘Pfrancing’ and Coltrane influenced ‘Bullet Train’. The band’s vigorous approach to Horace Silver’s classic ‘Blowin The Blues Away’ is a joy as is the more reflective take on Hancock’s ‘Dolphin Dance’. The band chill out on the beautiful and haunting ‘Nostalgique’. Another fine Jazz set courtesy of Kyle. (LP)
