Melvin Waiters’ self produced and funded project from 1980 that no doubt saw scant distribution, originals are scarce and pricey so this issue is most welcome. New cover art (formerly there was just a plain sleeve with a stuck on name banner) and a remastered sound makes this look and feel great. The rapid, disco funk of ‘Intro’ heralds the general vibe of half of the set and ‘Patti Dukes Hustle’ continues with a more laid back party funk vibe coming in at 6 ½ minutes. ‘Wiggle On Up’ is the third of the disco numbers before the gem of the title track comes in – a mid tempo, spacey, soaring slab of modern soul that has it all. ‘It’s Gonna Be Alright’ is Mel’s message song to the ladies and gentlemen of 1980 while the falsetto is ramped up on the ebbing slowie ‘Lady Of My Life’.
