First time on CD for Idris Muhammad Superb Disco Jazz Funk album ‘Turn this Mutha Out’, recorded from the Kudu label in 1977. ‘Could Heaven Ever Be Like This’ – a long-term favourite is like being momentarily transported to Jazz Funk paradise, a magical track that has become a classic. ‘Camby Bolongo’ is a delightful percussion heavy rhythmic instrumental featuring Randy Brecker on Trumpet and Jeremy Steig on flute. ‘Crab Apple’ is a wonderfully funky track with a great bass line and groove that has found favour with samplers. ‘Moon Hymn’ is a beautiful etherial track featuring David Tofani on Soprano Sax, that develops into a mid tempo funky groove. The more disco-fied ‘Turn This Mutha Out’ and ‘Tasty Cakes’ are club floor fillers. Great album

I cannot thank Soul Brother enough for re releasing this brilliant album. We all know and love the”Could Heaven..” anthem but every other tack is superb too.
The sound quality is first class as well. All ‘n’ All delighted with the purchase.
Hope you guys get the chance to release many more to add to the Fantastic Soul Brother Label.

This was an impulse buy and I’m glad I bought it. Great moments throughout. Crab Apple is sublime. Super funky, it’s on constant rotation in the car 🙂

In the seventies i fell in love with a cassette icopiede from god knows where. it was the first funk song i ever loved and kept it somewhere in the back of my mind. now, almost 40 years later i saw that it was brought out on cd, i instantly bought it, and it still has that addictive groove that i remembered. thanks for this!

Legendary jazz/funk masterpiece! Idris hit this one out of the park! Many of the best players of the day. Hiram Bullock, Randy Brecker, Cliff Carter, Eric Gale. Highly recommended!

Good album in funk disco vein, with Crab Apple outstanding due to the solos from Hiram Bullock and Mike Brecker. Too many unnecessary vocals to make it a standout.
