Debut album from Georgia’s Funmilayo Ngozi ‘Unconstrained’ is a mix of straight ahead gospel with some more soul oriented tracks. The southern sounding ‘One Word’ has some good retro touches, the uptempo ‘Faith’ is a joyous celebration while ‘Celebrate’ is a big sounding 80s style dancer. ‘I Know A Man’ is a jaunty finger clicker, the full on ‘My God Is Real’ is a soaring moment while ‘Interlude’ and ‘Love’ are tracks that probably come closest to contemporary indie soul. ‘Shine’ is a swaggering club dancer, ‘Abide In Me’ has jazzy, modern soul while ‘W.Y.A’ ends the set with a tough edged soul groove. Gospel with soul appeal for some.
