From 1976 ‘Urbaniak’ kicks off with the hard, funky fusion of ‘Tie Break’ featuring Zbigniew Namyslowski on sax. The tough egded ‘Strife’ has all the hallmarks of New York Jazz funk from the period while ‘Mountaineers’ is a more ponderous effort with some decent solos including the skewed vocals of fellow Polish artist Urszula Dudziak. ‘Weird Creatures’ bears the hallmarks of Hancock’s influence in the bass, ‘Jasmine’ lady is a good fusion number that builds in intensity while ‘Always Ready’ slowly unfolds from a combo of Urbaniak’s violin and the rippling keys of Kenny Kirkland’s keys before launching into a spacey groove.
