My previous experience of Sanborn were the albums Here and Gone and Only Everything released in 2008 and 2010 respectively. Many of the tracks on these albums are covers. Voyeur is a much earlier album (1980) and all the tracks are written by Sanborn and his then bassist Marcus Miller. However the end result in each case is some very enjoyable music. Whilst Sanborn may eschew the classification of being a jazz/pop or jazz/soul crossover artist, that does provide a reasonable description of what to expect. However one might wish to describe his music this album is certainly worth a listen.
