Legendary 1981 album from North Carolina’s Brief Encounter, this indie project would prove the band’s final release before they parted company. The modern soul gem ‘Sweet Tender Loving’ is the cut that creates the demand for the album but other strong moments come in the form of the wiry soulful boogie ‘Since I Met You Girl’, the sublime mid tempo ‘Just For Love’, the funker ‘Open Up Your Heart’ and the emphatic, infectious dancer ‘We Want To Play’. The swirling ballad ‘Together In Love’ also scores. Great to have this more widely available at last.
