Detroit’s Westbound Imprint – better known for more mainstream success stories like Denise LaSalle, Funkadelic and The Detroit emeralds – had the foresight to call in the services of DJ, mixer and remixer Tom Moulton to bring their most dancefloor friendly sounds to the floors of the hottest discos of the later years of the 1970s. ‘Devil’s Gun’ C.J. & Co was given the Moulton touch while ‘Beat Your Feet’ from Eramus Hall remains as it was initially laid down. Izzy Sanchez reworked the Fantastic Four’s thumping ‘B.Y.O.F. (Bring Your Own Funk)’ while ‘High On Mad Mountain’ from The Mike Theodore Orchestra is a full on, heavily percussive disco epic. The Detroit Emeralds’ ‘Feel The Need In Me’ is stretched to over 7 minutes to please the dancefloor.
